Jeongeup-si Wins Award for Excellent Local Government at the 'Successful Return to Farming and Happy Rural Living Expo'

[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeonbuk Jeongeup City announced on the 24th that it received the Excellent Local Government Award at the ‘2022 Successful Return to Farming and Happy Rural Migration Expo’ held at the aT Center in Yangjae-dong, Seoul.

The city is promoting various support projects such as agricultural startup fund loans, farming settlement support, and farm house repair cost support to help returnees to farming settle more easily in rural areas.

It is also receiving favorable reviews from returnees settled in the region through various programs such as living experience in rural areas, neighborhood artist operations, village welcome parties, mentor-mentee consulting, and village-level visiting integration education.

In particular, through the Return to Farming and Rural Migration Support Center, it operates return-to-farming and rural migration schools and residential family practice farms, providing a one-stop service to help prospective returnees quickly adapt to rural life.

Earlier, the city was honored as an excellent local government consecutively, having been selected as an excellent local government at the ‘2022 Return to Farming and Rural Migration Youth Startup Expo’ in April and again at this expo.

Last year, it solidified its position as the new hub for return to farming and rural migration by winning ‘Jeonbuk 1st place’ and ‘National 2nd place’ in the performance evaluation of return to farming and rural migration attraction support projects.

At this expo, which runs for three days from today until the 26th, the city plans to provide comprehensive information necessary for settlement and introduce Jeongeup’s unique regional strengths to urban participants hoping to return to farming and rural migration.

To attract young urban residents, the city will actively operate consultation booths for return to farming and rural migration, realistically consulting on Jeongeup’s support policies, preparation processes, and successful cases of rural settlement.

It also plans to provide customized information to prospective returnees by promoting the region’s major agricultural specialties and tourist resources.

A city official said, “Jeongeup is the optimal place for return to farming and rural migration, with differentiated support policies unique to the region as well as beautiful and pristine natural environments,” adding, “We hope you realize your dream of successful return to farming and rural migration in Jeongeup.”
