Gyeonggi-do Conducts 'Emergency Inspections' on 181 Large Construction Sites... 318 Preventive Measures Taken
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province conducted safety inspections on 181 construction sites in preparation for heavy rainfall and took preemptive measures on 318 cases.
On the 24th, Gyeonggi Province announced that it carried out safety inspections targeting 181 large-scale construction sites in the province to prepare for summer heavy rains, identifying 596 issues and requesting corrective actions.
The safety inspections were conducted jointly by the province, city and county officials, and external experts from May 9 to June 10, targeting construction sites with a total floor area of 100,000㎡ or more and excavation depths of 10 meters or more.
By category, the issues identified included 167 cases related to flood control measures and flood prevention plans, 268 cases of safety management, 12 cases of security management, 54 cases of site management, 89 cases of quality control, and 6 cases related to rest and convenience facilities.
Regarding flood control measures and flood prevention plans, problems such as 'early securing of flood prevention materials,' 'measures to prevent slope erosion,' and 'drainage management' were pointed out. In safety management, insufficient installation of 'fall prevention railings and temporary stair treads at excavation and openings' and 'system formwork supports' were noted.

The province immediately addressed urgent or minor issues on-site and completed corrective actions for 318 cases (53%) out of the 596 identified. The remaining 278 issues were reported to the respective city and county offices for confirmation of completion and continuous management.
