President Yoon promised, “We will make the resumption of construction of Shin Hanul Units 3 and 4 happen as soon as possible, and we will also provide early job creation and financial support so that the nuclear power ecosystem and partner companies do not wither away.”
They decided to advance the construction schedule of Units 3 and 4 as much as possible and to proactively place orders for spare parts in advance, considering the time required to complete the nuclear power plants.
The president also mentioned the small modular reactor (SMR) development project, which is an important pledge for both himself and Governor-elect Park.
“We will immediately promote the development and commercialization of small modular reactors to make it a future growth industry,” he said, adding, “By 2028, through focused investment, let’s develop and commercialize an innovative SMR, a domestic independent model,” and requested Gyeongnam Province’s role.
President Yoon expressed his determination to establish the Aerospace Administration, which will be built in Sacheon City, within his term and asked Gyeongnam to prepare in advance for all related matters.
The transition team reported that right after confirming the success of the Nuri rocket launch on the 21st, President Yoon confirmed his pledge to establish the Aerospace Administration and reiterated his promise to systematically support the aerospace industry.
