Asan Foundation Holds Symposium on 'Welfare in the Era of Catastrophic Crises' to Commemorate 45th Anniversary
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] The Asan Social Welfare Foundation (Chairman Chung Mong-joon, pictured) announced on the 21st that it will hold an academic symposium titled "Welfare in the Era of Catastrophic Crises" on the 22nd at 2 p.m. at the Korea Press Center International Conference Hall, inviting scholars and related experts.
This symposium will proceed with researchers presenting on specific topics such as ▲Establishing an Educational Welfare Safety Net in the Post-COVID-19 Era ▲The Impact of COVID-19 and Emergency Disaster Relief Funds, followed by discussions with experts.
Regarding the establishment of an educational welfare safety net in the post-COVID-19 era, Professor Kim Sun-yang of the Department of Public Administration at Yeungnam University will analyze educational inequality among children from vulnerable groups from the perspectives of educational environment, process, and outcomes, and propose policy prescriptions. Professor Lee Jun-young of the Department of Social Welfare at the University of Seoul will serve as the chair, with Professors Jung So-yeon of the Department of Social Welfare at Seoul Women’s University and Park Soon-woo of the Department of Social Welfare at Kongju National University participating as discussants.
On the impact of COVID-19 and emergency disaster relief funds, Professor Nam Jae-hyun of the Department of Social Welfare at Pusan National University will analyze the economic effects of the emergency disaster relief funds on vulnerable groups from multiple angles. Professors Kim Hyung-yong of the Department of Social Welfare at Dongguk University and Lee Won-jin, Associate Research Fellow at the Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs, will participate as discussants.
In the panel discussion, Professor Choi Jae-sung of the Department of Social Welfare at Yonsei University will serve as chair, with all presenters and discussants, as well as Professor Kim Seok-ho of the Department of Sociology at Seoul National University, participating to comprehensively share opinions on welfare in the era of catastrophic crises and discuss the direction our society should take.
