Shooting Incident in Harlem, New York... College Basketball Player Dies
[Asia Economy New York=Special Correspondent Joselgina] A shooting incident occurred on the 20th (local time) in East Harlem, Manhattan, New York, resulting in the death of college basketball star Darius Lee (21) and injuries to eight others.
According to the New York Police Department (NYPD), the shooting took place around 12:45 a.m. near 139th Street and FDR Drive in East Harlem. At least two gunmen fired their weapons, with local media reporting that as many as 150 bullets were discharged.
The shooting claimed the life of Darius Lee, a senior at Houston Baptist University in Texas and a college basketball star. A native of Harlem who recently received the Male Athlete of the Year award, he had returned home for summer vacation. Lee was rushed to a nearby hospital immediately after the shooting but was pronounced dead.
Additionally, the police confirmed that six men and two women were injured in the shooting. Firearms were recovered at the scene. The investigation is ongoing, and further details have not yet been released.
