The students were recognized for their outstanding research with the paper titled "A Congestion Measurement System for Public Transportation Using CCTV" at the competition held over two days, May 13-14, at BEXCO in Busan.
The Korea Multimedia Society holds the national undergraduate paper competition to help students develop theoretical and practical skills and foster creativity to develop new ideas.
The Pukyong National University students proposed a system that measures public transportation congestion at low cost by analyzing CCTV video image information, departing from the existing method of using weight sensors, which received favorable evaluations from the judges.
Advisor Professor Kim Taeguk said, "It seems the students achieved good results by applying the computer engineering knowledge they learned as undergraduates to come up with new ideas and directly challenge themselves to implement a system that can be applied in the field."
