COVID-19 New Cases 9,435... Below 10,000 for Six Consecutive Days (Update)
93 Critically Ill Hospitalized Patients... 9 Deaths
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Young-won] The number of new COVID-19 cases in South Korea has remained below 10,000 for six consecutive days.
According to the Central Disease Control Headquarters on the 15th, as of midnight, 9,435 new COVID-19 cases were reported, bringing the total cumulative cases to 18,248,479.
The daily new cases have stayed below 10,000 for six days since the 10th. This is a decrease of 3,920 cases compared to 13,355 cases reported a week ago on the 8th, and 343 fewer than the previous day’s 9,778 cases.
The number of critically ill patients currently hospitalized is 93, remaining in the 90s for four consecutive days since the 12th. The nationwide critical care bed occupancy rate is 8.1%, with 6.4% in the metropolitan area and 13.4% in non-metropolitan areas.
The number of new COVID-19 deaths is 9, an increase of 7 from 2 the previous day. By age group, seven are aged 80 or older, and one each in their 60s and 70s. The cumulative death toll stands at 24,399, with a fatality rate of 0.13%.
With 9,366 new patients added to home treatment the previous day, the total number of patients currently under home treatment is 48,180. Among them, 2,997 are in the intensive management group receiving health care from medical institutions.

The fourth dose vaccination rate for COVID-19 among the elderly aged 60 and above is 30.1%. The first dose vaccination rate for children aged 5 to 11 is 1.5%, and the second dose rate is 0.7%.
