CJ Foodville Vips, '1997 Steak' Tops Sales... "One Sold Every 2 Minutes"
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Hyewon] CJ Foodville's Vips announced on the 15th that its '1997 Steak' ranked first in total steak menu sales within 50 days of its launch.
The 1997 Steak is a menu reinterpreting the bulgogi-flavored steak, which was highly loved by all age groups in the early days, to commemorate Vips' 25th anniversary. While utilizing the previous recipe, it reflects the trend of emphasizing the quality of the steak itself by applying the basting cooking method instead of marinating the steak in sauce as in the past. Basting involves applying sauce during cooking, which enhances the steak's tender texture and flavor.
Vips reported that since the launch of the 1997 Steak on April 21, about one steak has been sold every two minutes during business hours over the past 50 days, receiving high customer response.
Overall steak sales at Vips also increased by about 37% compared to the same period last year. In particular, sales of the premium steak line, composed of the highest-grade cuts, increased by approximately 77%.
