Gyeonggi-do Provides Up to 3 Million KRW for Hanok Repair Costs
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province will support up to 3 million KRW for small-scale repair and maintenance costs of hanok within the province.
Gyeonggi Province announced that it will carry out the 'Hanok Architecture Small-scale Repair Emergency Support Project' targeting hanok in the province that require small-scale urgent repairs such as tile damage and wood aging, with a total construction cost of around 6 million KRW. The province will accept applications from the 15th of this month until the 15th of next month.
The province will directly support half of the construction cost (up to 3 million KRW) for the selected hanok. For this project, the province secured a total budget of 60 million KRW this year, following last year.

An official from the province explained, "There are difficulties in managing hanok due to higher maintenance costs compared to general houses," adding, "We conduct support projects every year to preserve the unique beauty and dignity of hanok."
