Jinhyun Kim, Executive Director at LG Innotek, Awarded the Gold Tower Industrial Medal on 'Invention Day'
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jin-ho] LG Innotek announced on the 14th that Executive Director of Patents Kim Jin-hyun received the 'Gold Tower Industrial Medal' at the 57th Inventors' Day. The Korean Intellectual Property Office and the Korea Invention Promotion Association hold an annual ceremony to commemorate 'Inventors' Day' and award medals and honors to individuals who have contributed to national industrial development through inventions.
Executive Director Kim was selected as the recipient of this year's 'Gold Tower Industrial Medal' in recognition of his contributions to the development and competitiveness enhancement of the domestic materials and components industry by actively promoting patent application activities to protect innovative technologies developed by LG Innotek employees. The 'Gold Tower Industrial Medal' is the highest-ranking award given by the government.
From the early stages of technology development, Executive Director Kim has led the continuous establishment of a detailed patent network that classifies new ideas by competitiveness and distinctiveness, enabling commercialization. Based on this, he completed LG Innotek's systematic patent development process from patent application to securing rights. Due to these efforts, LG Innotek filed 4,299 domestic and 1,333 overseas patents in the camera, automotive electronics, and substrate fields over the past five years (2017?2021), the highest level in the domestic materials and components industry.
Additionally, Executive Director Kim has designated and intensively managed about 250 'strategic patents,' including standard patents, to effectively prepare for international patent infringement lawsuits and enable rights utilization in similar cases. This proactive preparation played a decisive role in LG Innotek's victories in patent infringement lawsuits and disputes against overseas companies in the United States, Japan, China, and others. Based on this, the company was able to expand sales and secure royalty income.
