Medicox Supplies Blister Packaging to Global Diagnostic Reagent Companies... Secures 4 Billion KRW in Sales
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] KOSDAQ-listed company Medicox announced on the 14th that its blister packaging business, a new venture, has begun full-scale factory operations, with expected sales of approximately 4 billion KRW this year.
Medicox stated that starting this month, in addition to cosmetic blister packaging, it will be responsible for blister packaging of buffer solutions for diagnostic kits produced by the world's second-largest global diagnostic reagent company. The blister packaging factory, located in the Siwha Industrial Complex in Ansan, Gyeonggi Province, with a total area of 200 pyeong, has also commenced full-scale operations. The company expects continuous growth in sales from cosmetic and diagnostic reagent buffer solution blister packaging next year as well.
Last month, Medicox signed a joint business agreement on blister packaging with Blispec, a company specializing in blister packaging and production. Along with the contract, Medicox has secured production facilities specialized in blister packaging for diagnostic reagents and cosmetics and is actively diversifying its sales.
Blister packaging is a method where the front part of the product is formed with a plastic sheet, the contents are filled into the formed section, and then sealed by covering it with a film. Since the contents or products are embedded in a rigid formed packaging section, it is characterized by excellent product protection and prevention of deterioration. In pharmaceuticals and medical products, it ensures product stability and enhances consumer convenience, with the advantage of extending product shelf life due to high moisture barrier properties. Notably, its price competitiveness compared to conventional plastic packaging is considered a key differentiating factor.
A Medicox representative said, "We have formed a TF team jointly with Blispec to continuously discuss expanding sales channels in the future," adding, "As demand in the pharmaceutical sector is expected to grow, securing blister packaging know-how and production facilities can directly lead to increased sales."
