Yeosu City Expands Operation of Paid On-Street Parking Lot Unmanned System
Establishment of Floor Control System with 211 Panels at 6 Locations Including Yi Sun-sin Square... Scheduled to Operate from July
[Yeosu=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Cheol-hoon] Jeonnam Yeosu City announced on the 13th that it will fully expand the operation of an unmanned system for the efficient management of paid roadside parking lots.
Starting in June, Yeosu City will expand the installation of the ‘Floor Control Unmanned Payment Parking Management System’ to 211 roadside parking spaces at six locations including Yi Sun-sin Square, and will begin phased operation from July 1.
The ‘Floor Control Unmanned Payment Parking Management System’ automatically raises a control device from the floor when a vehicle is parked.
When exiting, the control device lowers after paying the parking fee at a nearby payment machine or by using the QR code attached to the parking space for payment.
Paid operation hours are from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Lunch time (12 p.m. to 2 p.m.) for 2 hours and the first 30 minutes are free to use, and 500 won is charged every 30 minutes after exceeding 30 minutes.
According to the city, since March last year, an unmanned system has been pilot-operated at a 27-space parking lot around the Marine Park area.
They stated that there is no need to wait for parking attendants to pay fees, and the contactless payment method has received high approval, leading to the full expansion.
A city official said, “We will strengthen publicity through SNS and media reports for citizens who are not familiar with the new system. In addition, we plan to do our best in system management and operation to ensure users do not experience inconvenience.”
Meanwhile, Yeosu City plans to introduce a smart parking system using IoT technology in the future and foster a shared parking culture to secure insufficient parking spaces.
