New COVID-19 Cases Drop Sharply to 3,577 by 9 PM... Below 4,000 for the First Time in 21 Weeks
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] As the COVID-19 outbreak shows a clear decline, the number of new confirmed cases sharply dropped to the 3,000 range by 9 PM on the 12th.
According to Seoul Metropolitan Government and other local governments, from midnight to 9 PM on this day, 3,577 people across 17 cities and provinces nationwide were confirmed positive for COVID-19.
This is 3,520 fewer than the count at the same time the previous day (7,097).
Compared to one week ago on the 5th at the same time (4,827), it is 1,250 fewer, and compared to two weeks ago on May 29 (5,956), it is 2,379 fewer.
This is the first time in 21 weeks since January 16 (3,344) that the number of confirmed cases recorded at the same time on a Sunday has fallen below 4,000.
As of 9 PM on this day, new confirmed cases were 1,759 (49.2%) in the metropolitan area and 1,818 (50.8%) in non-metropolitan areas.
By region, there were 949 in Gyeonggi, 664 in Seoul, 270 in Gyeongbuk, 195 in Gyeongnam, 192 in Daegu, 187 in Gangwon, 146 in Daejeon, 128 in Chungnam, 121 in Jeonnam, 117 in Incheon, 110 in Ulsan, 110 in Jeonbuk, 108 in Gwangju, 102 in Chungbuk, 87 in Busan, 75 in Jeju, and 16 in Sejong.
