Sandberg, who served as Meta's 'second-in-command,' recently announced her resignation.
The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported on the 10th (local time), citing sources familiar with the matter, that Meta's legal team has launched an investigation into how Sandberg has utilized the company's human and material resources over the past several years.
The investigation focuses on the extent to which company employees were mobilized for Sandberg's personal matters.
This includes examining the involvement of Meta employees in supporting the 'Lean In' foundation, which Sandberg established to support women in the workplace, as well as activities related to the writing and promotion of Sandberg's book, "Option B."
WSJ also reported that the investigation will look into allegations that Sandberg used company resources arbitrarily during the preparation of her wedding, noting that Meta's legal team has been conducting related interviews with several employees since last fall.
Sandberg announced earlier this month that she would step down from her COO position this fall after 14 years.
She is credited with playing a key role in transforming Facebook, originally a social media startup, into a global company, earning recognition as the second-in-command after Mark Zuckerberg, Meta's Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Meanwhile, Sandberg's close associates stated that while the investigation has hurt her pride, it was not the reason for her decision to resign.
