The Jeonju District Court Criminal Division 1 (Chief Judge Noh Jong-chan) announced on the 12th that it overturned the original sentence of a 10 million won fine and sentenced Mr. A (33), who was charged with violating the Act on the Protection of Children and Juveniles from Sexual Abuse (possession of obscene materials), to 8 months in prison with a 2-year probation.
Mr. A was charged with paying approximately 590,000 won in cryptocurrency sponsorship fees to Baksabang from October to December 2019 and downloading and possessing 75 obscene materials featuring children and adolescents.
Additionally, it was investigated that Mr. A accessed a specific obscene website from February 2018 to May 2020 and downloaded and stored about 690 obscene materials.

The court explained the reason for increasing the sentence, stating, "The defendant possessed a considerable number of 769 obscene materials involving children and adolescents and even paid monetary compensation to acquire them. Such obscene materials can induce further sexual crimes against children and adolescents, so the crime is not minor."
