COVID-19 New Cases 9,315... Below 10,000 for the First Time in Three Days (Update)
107 Critically Ill Inpatients... 18 Patients Same as Day Before Death
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Young-won] The number of new COVID-19 cases in South Korea has fallen below 10,000 again after three days.
On the 10th, the Central Disease Control Headquarters announced that as of midnight, 9,315 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed, bringing the total cumulative cases to 18,209,650.
During the holiday period from the 5th to the 7th, daily new COVID-19 cases remained below 10,000, but increased to over 10,000 in the past two days. The number of new cases today decreased by 3,223 compared to last Friday (12,538 cases).
The number of critically ill patients currently hospitalized is 107, an increase of one from the previous day. The nationwide critical care bed occupancy rate is 7.6%, with 6.4% in the metropolitan area and 10.8% in non-metropolitan areas.
The number of new COVID-19 related deaths remains the same as the previous day at 18. The cumulative death toll is 24,341, with a fatality rate of 0.13%.
Yesterday, 9,905 new patients were added to home treatment, bringing the total number of patients currently under home treatment to 65,016. Among them, 3,486 are in the intensive management group receiving health care from medical institutions.
There are 479 respiratory specialty clinics providing telephone consultations for home treatment patients, and 9,967 designated respiratory medical institutions in operation. There are 6,462 outpatient treatment centers. The health authorities announced plans to integrate these medical institutions into 'Respiratory Patient Treatment Centers' for unified operation.

The fourth vaccination rate for the elderly aged 60 and over is 29.7%, and the first and second vaccination rates for children aged 5 to 11 are 1.5% and 0.6%, respectively.
