40-Year-Old Man Arrested for Kicking Taxi Driver and Assaulting Police Over Refusal to Give Cigarettes
[Asia Economy Reporter Gong Byung-sun] A man in his 40s who kicked a taxi driver and assaulted police officers was apprehended by the police.
On the 9th, according to the police, the Jungnang Police Station in Seoul announced that they are investigating a man in his 40s, Mr. A, on charges of assault, property damage, obstruction of official duties, and insult.
It was investigated that Mr. A boarded a taxi in Jungnang-gu, Seoul, early the previous day and demanded a cigarette from the taxi driver, Mr. B. When Mr. B replied that he did not have any cigarettes, Mr. A kicked him. As a result of the kick, Mr. B sustained bruises on his face, and the taxi meter inside the vehicle was also damaged.
Furthermore, Mr. A verbally abused and assaulted one of the responding police officers by headbutting him. It was reported that Mr. A was intoxicated at the time.
