Suwon Mayor-elect Lee Jae-jun: "I will attract 30 high-tech companies during my term"
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Lee Jae-jun, the mayor-elect of Suwon, Gyeonggi Province, announced that he plans to attract 30 high-tech companies by leveraging Suwon's geographical advantages and 30 years of urban planning experience.
In a phone interview with an internet broadcasting media on the 7th, Mayor-elect Lee Jae-jun emphasized, "I will make Suwon a special economic city with abundant jobs and a high quality of life," adding, "To achieve this, I will do my best to attract 30 high-tech companies during my term."
Regarding the relocation of the military airport, he promised, "Together with Kim Dong-yeon, the governor-elect of Gyeonggi Province, Kim Jin-pyo, the National Assembly Speaker-designate, and four members of the National Assembly from Suwon, we will firmly decide on the direction of relocating Suwon Military Airport within this year."
He continued, "I understand that the residents of Hwaseong, who had previously hindered the relocation of the military airport, have recently shifted to a favorable opinion regarding the joint bid for an international airport," and predicted, "If Speaker Kim Jin-pyo pushes for the revision of the Military Airport Special Act within this year, the direct path to a residents' referendum will open, making the relocation of the military airport smoother."
He added, "We plan to relocate Suwon Military Airport and establish a high-tech industrial complex called Smartpolis (K-Silicon Valley) on the site, which will be responsible for Suwon's future economic growth for the next 100 years."

Regarding his election as the first mayor of Suwon not originally from Suwon, the mayor-elect said, "Now, it is more important how long one has lived in Suwon and how much one loves Suwon in the future, rather than whether one is originally from the Suwon area," expressing gratitude by saying, "The citizens of Suwon saw this and chose me as the person who will truly work for them."
