GS Construction-CJ F&C Launch Domestic First Development of Farmed Salmon Feed
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyemin] GS Engineering & Construction is partnering with CJ Feed&Care (CJ F&C) to develop the first domestically produced feed for farmed salmon.
On the 7th, GS Engineering & Construction announced that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with CJ F&C at its headquarters in Gran Seoul, Jongno-gu, Seoul, to enhance the marketability and sustainability of salmon. The event was attended by Heo Yunhong, Head of the New Business Division, and Kim Seon-gang, CEO of CJ F&C, among others.
Accordingly, CJ F&C will develop land-based recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) feed suitable for the Busan smart aquaculture facility, and GS Engineering & Construction will produce Atlantic salmon using this feed. This collaboration combines GS Engineering & Construction’s water treatment technology with CJ F&C’s feed research and development (R&D) capabilities.
Through this MOU, GS Engineering & Construction is expected to secure a stable supply chain for farmed salmon feed. Feed plays a crucial role in the growth and quality of farmed salmon as well as in managing water quality at aquaculture farms. The company explained that the land-based recirculating filtration method, the first of its kind in Korea currently being promoted at the Busan smart aquaculture cluster, requires not only water treatment technologies such as filtration and purification but also the development of high-quality feed.
