Gyeonggi-do Utilizes 342 Small Libraries as 'Heatwave Shelters'
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province will utilize 342 small libraries within the province this year as 'heatwave and cold wave shelters' for vulnerable groups.
The province announced on the 7th that it will support cooling and heating costs for these small libraries.
Small libraries are facilities installed in community centers, welfare facilities, apartments, churches, etc., considering residents' accessibility, with a total of 1,825 across the province.
Since 2017, the province has been using small libraries as heatwave and cold wave shelters. This year, a total of 550 million KRW, including 385 million KRW from city and county budgets, will be spent to support electricity, gas, and other cooling and heating expenses or the purchase of cooling and heating equipment for locations requested by local governments.
