Chungnam to Recruit 6th Batch Students for 'Gui-eo School' This Month
[Asia Economy (Hongseong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] The Chungnam Provincial Fisheries Resources Research Institute announced on the 7th that it is recruiting 20 students for the 6th class of the Returning to Fishing Village School until the 21st of this month.
The Returning to Fishing Village School is operated as part of a customized education program designed to increase the understanding of fishing villages among returnees, provide conditions for communication and harmony among local residents, and support returnees who are not familiar with fishing village life to successfully start businesses and settle locally.
Recruitment targets are returnees or hopeful returnees aged 18 to under 65. Selection is conducted through document screening and interviews.
Applications for participation in the Returning to Fishing Village School can be submitted by preparing the required documents such as the application form and self-introduction letter, and either visiting the Fisheries Resources Research Institute in person or submitting by mail (including email).
The 6th class of the Returning to Fishing Village School will open on the 18th of next month. Selected students will stay in dormitories and participate in theoretical education and hands-on field training necessary for fishing, aquaculture, entrepreneurship, as well as case studies, policy and funding support project guidance related to returning to fishing villages and rural areas.
The Fisheries Resources Research Institute plans to operate a pilot license qualification course for those who wish among the graduates.

A representative of the Fisheries Resources Research Institute said, “Chungnam is the region with the second highest number of returning fishing households and returnees after Jeonnam,” and added, “We will do our best to lead the stable influx of urban residents into fishing villages and strengthen the future competitiveness of the fisheries industry.”
