AK&Hongdae, First Domestic Opening of 'Cinnamoroll Sweet Cafe' Using Global Characters
Creating Trendy Photo Spots to Offer Various Attractions to General Visitors
[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] AK Plaza is introducing a unique cafe utilizing famous character intellectual property (IP) at AK&Hongdae.
AK Plaza announced on the 7th that it will open the country's first "Cinnamoroll Sweet Cafe" at AK&Hongdae.
"Cinnamoroll" is a representative dog character from Sanrio, a Japanese company that owns global characters such as "Hello Kitty." It has proven its global popularity by ranking 1st or 2nd in the annual "Sanrio Character Awards" held for fans worldwide. In Korea, it has gained attention among fans as a character resembling famous K-pop stars and has a strong fan base among the MZ generation (Millennials + Generation Z). With its cute and charming image, it is also popular among the Alpha generation born after 2010.
The newly opened "Cinnamoroll Sweet Cafe" at AK&Hongdae is the first of its kind in Korea. Unlike the Tokyo store in Japan, it features menus and special goods developed specifically for domestic fans. The cafe is located on the 2nd floor of AK&Hongdae, covering an area of 230㎡ (approximately 70 pyeong), and offers a cafe where visitors can enjoy simple drinks and desserts, a photo spot, and a space selling Cinnamoroll character goods. The interior is designed to evoke "Cinnamoroll's house," using sky blue, pink, and mint colors representing Cinnamoroll, and various character objects to maximize its loveliness. The photo spot inside the cafe is themed as "Cinnamoroll and Friends' Room."
The main food and beverages sold include ▲Sweet Peach Soda ▲Ice Cream Cafe Latte ▲Strawberry Banana Parfait ▲Cinnamoroll & Milk Waffle, among others. The cafe targets fans with visually appealing menu items such as drinks featuring Cinnamoroll latte art and waffles baked in the shape of the Cinnamoroll character.
