[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] Lotte Department Store's 'Rejoice' has been recognized in a global social contribution campaign.
On the 7th, Lotte Department Store announced that its social contribution campaign, Rejoice, was selected as one of the top 10 best campaigns at the 'World's Best Sustainability & CSR Campaign' Awards hosted by the Intercontinental Department Store Group (IGDS).
IGDS, established in Switzerland in 1946, is the world's largest department store association with 45 department stores from 38 countries worldwide as members. After the first CSR Awards event in 2016, the 'Sustainability & CSR Campaign Awards' was held again after six years, selecting the top 10 campaigns with the best achievements.
Rejoice from Lotte Department Store competed with campaign reports submitted by about 30 department stores from the US, Europe, Asia, Africa, and more. Within the broad framework of corporate social responsibility, the results were determined after over two months of evaluation based on criteria such as originality, execution, and social impact.
The world's top 10 campaigns included Nordstrom Department Store's recycling campaign from the US, Coin Department Store's violence eradication campaign from Italy, and Selfridges Department Store's environmental campaign from the UK. The Rejoice campaign initially started with the motto of 'raising awareness of women's depression' and expanded into a comprehensive psychological care campaign.
In 2020, the first Rejoice Psychological Counseling Center was opened at the Busan Centum City branch, and additional counseling centers were opened last year at locations including Dongtan. To date, about 2,000 psychological counseling sessions have been conducted. The Rejoice Psychological Counseling Centers set reasonable fees, and the counseling revenue is returned as social contribution funds. In cooperation with welfare centers nationwide, psychological improvement programs for vulnerable groups have been supported for two consecutive years. Early last year, healing music tracks titled 'For the Shining You' were released in collaboration with singer-songwriters Jeokjae, Kwon Jin-ah, and Lee Jin-ah. At the end of the year, a crowdfunding program supporting young carers was conducted in partnership with 'Lotte ON,' attracting participation from about 30,000 customers and receiving great response.
Meanwhile, the champion of this year's IGDS 'World's Best Sustainability & CSR Campaign' will be announced on the 9th. The final winner will be selected from the 10 best campaigns, and the awards ceremony will be held in Seattle, USA.
