Seoul City and Rural Development Administration Hold 'Korea Pet Insect Contest' for New Species Discovery Competition

Special Exhibition of 33 Living Four-Season Insects and Display of Worldwide Hercules Beetle Specimens
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Rural Development Administration announced on the 7th that they will jointly host the "6th Korea Pet Insect Contest 2022" for three days from the 10th to the 12th at SETEC.
This year, under the theme "Great Happiness from Small Insects," an exhibition will be prepared to showcase 33 species of four-season insects that satisfy the five senses, as well as specimens of 12 subspecies of the worldwide Hercules beetle. Participants can visit ▲the Four-Season Insect Theme Hall ▲Hercules Beetle Insect Specimens ▲Insect Experience Zone ▲and booths of insect-related organizations and companies.
The "Pet Insect Contest" will be held as an open competition, and not only participants in each category but also the general public can attend without prior registration. The contest categories include ▲11 measurement events (excellent insects, stylish insects, etc.) ▲3 presentation events (Insect Science King, New Pet Insect Discovery Contest, etc.) ▲3 other events (Insect Quiz, Insect Specimen King, etc.), totaling 18 events in 9 fields, with 54 awards including the Seoul Mayor's Award.
The "National Forum for the Activation of the Emotional Insect Industry," aimed at exploring ways to utilize the healing effects of insects and promote the emotional insect industry, will be held in the SETEC conference room. For citizens who find it difficult to visit the venue, videos capturing the insect exhibits and on-site scenes will be posted on the contest website after the event ends.
