Ministry of SMEs and Startups Selects Two New Lead Organizations for Middle-Aged and Senior Technology Startup Centers
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dong-hyun] The Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced on the 5th that it has selected two lead organizations to exclusively operate the ‘Middle-aged and Senior Technology Startup Centers’ for 2022.
The Middle-aged and Senior Technology Startup Centers are customized incubation spaces for middle-aged and senior entrepreneurs, who have a high startup success rate based on their rich social experience. They provide office space and mentoring programs to startups within three years of establishment.
Starting this year, to improve the startup success rate of middle-aged and senior entrepreneurs, the startup support programs have been expanded and reorganized to include customized startup courses and elective programs. In particular, to significantly alleviate the difficulties faced by middle-aged and senior entrepreneurs during startup, a ‘Startup Bootcamp’ has been newly established to support them in simultaneously managing their pre-retirement work life and startup preparations.
In this selection evaluation, the applicants’ commitment to the project, infrastructure, and center operation plans were comprehensively assessed to evaluate their capability to operate the centers. As a result, Daegu University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation and Gangwon Creative Economy Innovation Center were newly selected as lead organizations. With this new selection, a total of 35 Middle-aged and Senior Technology Startup Centers will be operated nationwide starting this year. The two newly selected organizations are expected to complete infrastructure setup by July and begin full-scale operations from August.
