‘Cultural City Mokpo’ Takes Steps to Share Culture with Citizens
Introduction of Plans for Creating a Sustainable Cultural Ecosystem and Gathering Opinions
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Jeong Seunghyun] On the 3rd, Mokpo City in Jeollanam-do held a briefing session for the 'citizen-led' Mokpo Cultural City Development Project and listened to the voices of its citizens.
According to the city on the 3rd, the briefing session was attended by citizen governance members such as cultural account holders, citizen promotion teams, lifestyle culture clubs, citizens interested in the cultural city, and related organization officials, where the cultural city development plan was introduced and opinions were collected.
Prior to this, since February, the city gathered opinions through expert consulting and public hearings with cultural and artistic stakeholders.
Based on the opinions heard at the briefing session, the city plans to promote various cultural projects to establish a cultural port city brand where cultural exchange and fusion occur as the cultural hub of the southwestern region.
In December last year, the city was designated as the 3rd cultural city by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and from this year until 2026, it will promote the cultural city development project under the vision of "New Open Port Cultural Harbor City Mokpo."
The cultural city project aims to create a sustainable cultural ecosystem led by citizens that can become a future growth engine, making the city a prosperous place for citizens and a vibrant cultural economy city.
To this end, the city will promote ▲ cultural talent development through cultural healing projects, port culture support, future culture preparation teams, and demand culture academies ▲ cultural content development such as specialized content production, local culture remakes, and Mokpo Cultural Digital Map ▲ cultural city brand expansion projects such as Cultural Exchange Exploration Team, Mokpo Culture Day, and Cultural Harbor Festa.
