View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyun-joo] A Vietnamese man in his 40s, who was caught on suspicion of illegal stay (violation of the Immigration Control Act), escaped while being investigated at a police substation and has not been found for two days.
According to Daegu Seongseo Police Station on the 2nd, around 1:10 a.m. the previous day, Vietnamese national A (44) took advantage of a moment of lax surveillance to slip his hand out of the handcuffs he was wearing and fled.
He was caught after a convenience store employee in Dalseo-gu reported him suspiciously attempting to purchase 2 million won worth of 'Google Play Gift Cards' around 11:55 p.m. on the 31st of last month.
During the identity check, the police confirmed his illegal stay status and took A to the police substation, where he was handcuffed.

A police official said, "It seems we lost him after he entered a dead-end alley and jumped over a fence to escape. We have reviewed all the nearby closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage but have not been able to locate him."
