Sustainable Production and Consumption, Citizens' Healthy Food Policy
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yeo Jong-gu] Gyeongsan City in Gyeongbuk has been selected for the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs' 'Support for Research on Establishing Regional Food Plans' project and will receive 100 million KRW in research funding.
With this project budget, the city plans to establish a local food circulation system that connects production, processing, distribution, consumption, disposal, and recycling, aiming to promote an 'integrated food policy' that enhances the social, economic, and environmental sustainability of the region.
‘Korea 6th Industry,’ selected as the contractor for the ‘Gyeongsan City Food Plan Establishment Research,’ will, over seven months starting from the 1st, develop execution plans for a food security-type food plan tailored to the city's characteristics and establish detailed project plans to provide safe food and revitalize the local economy.
The main contents of the food plan establishment research include ▲ investigation and analysis of the local food situation ▲ establishment of a regional food plan (governance construction) ▲ building an integrated operation system and education ▲ empirical research on cooperation methods with neighboring local governments ▲ and deriving policy tasks by sector.
The ‘Food Plan’ aims to support the establishment of a virtuous cycle of local food systems from agricultural production issues to processing, distribution, hygiene, consumption, as well as employment, welfare, education, environment, health, and urban issues, covering from producers to consumers' tables.
