[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] The Democratic Party of Korea plans to hold a joint meeting of National Assembly members and party executives on the 3rd to discuss an emergency leadership system. Following the resignation of all emergency committee members after the local election defeat, the party intends to discuss the leadership structure to guide the party until the next party convention.
On the 2nd, Lee Su-jin, the Democratic Party floor spokesperson, stated in a briefing at the National Assembly, "Today, the Democratic Party's Emergency Committee decided to take responsibility for the local election results and resign en masse," adding, "Our party will create a path of responsible innovation centered on Floor Leader Park Hong-geun, who is acting as the party leader."
He introduced, "Tomorrow, the Democratic Party will hold a joint meeting of National Assembly members and party executives to discuss the formation of an emergency leadership system and party innovation measures."
At a meeting with reporters, the spokesperson explained, "Floor Leader Park Hong-geun has begun managing the schedule as acting party leader," and "Tomorrow's joint meeting of National Assembly members and party executives will be an opportunity to hear discussions on the party's future direction, the need to form an emergency leadership system, and a proper evaluation of the recent presidential and local elections to determine the party's way forward."
