Seongnam City to Provide 1 Million Won 'Creative Support Fund' for Artists... Applications Open Until Next Month 29
[Asia Economy (Seongnam) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province will provide a one-time creative support fund of 1 million KRW in local currency to artists who are experiencing financial difficulties due to restrictions on artistic activities caused by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
The recipients are citizens who have had a residence in Seongnam City from January 1 of this year until the application date and are registered with the Korea Artist Welfare Foundation, holding a certificate proving their artistic activities.
Recipients of Youth Basic Income and Farmer/Rural Basic Income are excluded from the support.
Seongnam City has finalized the number of eligible recipients at 2,485 and secured a related budget of 2.485 billion KRW (including 50% provincial subsidy).
The application deadline is until the 29th of next month.
Considering the document preparation period for artists without a certificate of artistic activity or whose certificate has expired, a second application period will be accepted from September 1 to October 31.
Eligible applicants can apply online through the Seongnam City website.
If online application is difficult, applicants can submit the application form (available on the Seongnam City website → General Announcements), certificate of artistic activity (Artist Career Information System = www.kawfartist.kr), and resident registration abstract in person to the Culture and Arts Division on the 6th floor of Seongnam City Hall.
Once applied, the creative support fund will be received within 15 days in the form of Seongnam Love Gift Certificates, either mobile or card type, as preferred.
A city official explained, "This support fund aims to stabilize the livelihoods of artists threatened by COVID-19 and assist their creative activities to revitalize the overall culture and arts sector," adding, "Within Gyeonggi Province, five cities including Seongnam, Uiwang, Yeoju, Dongducheon, and Yeoncheon are promoting this initiative."
