Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to Provide Special Support Fund of 3 Million KRW per Bus Driver This Month
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Min-young] The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 2nd that the payment of the 'Special Support Fund for Bus Drivers Responding to COVID-19,' allocated through the second supplementary budget of 2022 in May, will begin this month.
This supplementary budget follows the first supplementary budget implemented in March and aims to support bus drivers whose income has decreased due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic. A total of 86,300 drivers, including 35,000 charter bus drivers and 51,300 private route bus drivers, will each receive 3 million KRW.
The special support fund for bus drivers responding to COVID-19 is available to charter bus and private route bus drivers who have worked for more than 60 days as of the announcement date and can provide proof of income reduction.
Detailed application methods will be announced on the websites of local governments starting from the 3rd. Bus drivers who meet the eligibility criteria must submit their applications directly to the local government or through their affiliated company within the period specified in the announcement.
