Jang Seok-woong, Candidate for Jeonnam Superintendent of Education, Says "The Future of Jeonnam Education Lies in the Hands of Residents"
"Please Lend Your Final Support on the Educational Journey"
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] Jang Seok-woong, candidate for Jeonnam Superintendent of Education, appealed on the 31st, saying that the superintendent election is an election to choose the best education expert, and “I hope you will lend your final strength to the path of the ‘great educational journey’ that leads our children to a proud future sea.”
Candidate Jang held a press conference at the Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education on the same day and emphasized, “The superintendent election is not an election to choose politicians,” and “It is an election to select the best education expert who regards our children as precious and special beings and reflects parents’ wishes in education policies to create ‘schools where everyone is happy.’”
Candidate Jang said, “Since graduating from the Department of History Education at Jeonnam National University College of Education and taking my first step into teaching, I have strived to become a good teacher,” and “To realize true education, I have fought against competitive education and privileged education, devoted myself to educational reform and innovation movements, and although I experienced the pain of dismissal, I never bowed or despaired for the future of our children.”
He continued, “Four years ago, the people of Jeonnam chose me, a former ordinary teacher, as the Jeonnam Superintendent of Education, but times are changing and our children are changing,” and added, “With the belief that education policies, supporting educational administration, and teachers must change and innovate, I have led educational innovation in Jeonnam together with our faculty over the past four years.”
Furthermore, he said, “The responsibility for the corruption scandal involving blackout screens, the biggest corruption scandal in the provincial office of education, has been revealed,” and “It has become clear to all who has the ability and qualifications to be superintendent.”
He then stated, “The core of my pledge is a system that guarantees responsibility for basic academic skills, and as parents entrust their precious children to schools, schools and the education office must take responsibility and guarantee basic academic skills,” emphasizing, “I will greatly expand the basic academic skills teacher system, which received the government innovation excellence award, boldly introduce various academic improvement programs, and implement a 20-student cap per class to resolve overcrowding in urban areas, especially in new towns.”
