[Muju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Muju-gun announced on the 31st that it will officially begin this year the creation of a landscape around Namdaecheon in Muju, which will be transformed into an "artistic space with beautiful lights and themes."
In particular, the landscape project will be promoted based on an integrated day and night landscape centered on the beautiful scenic resources of the Namdaecheon riverside and fireflies, and is expected to become a new tourist attraction in Muju-gun.
According to the county, the Namdaecheon riverside landscape project will start construction this year and is scheduled to be completed by 2025. A total of 19.4 billion KRW will be invested in the project.
The main projects include △ creating a firefly-themed light street, △ installing night landscape lighting around Namdaecheon, △ constructing a scenic pedestrian bridge (footbridge/suspension bridge), and △ establishing a digital light lighting experience zone.
In addition, light street landscape cultural contents including rest areas will be built, and infrastructure such as parking lots and light street busking performance venues will also be expanded.
Muju-gun plans to highlight the new image of Muju as a tourist city by producing beautiful and distinctive landscape designs against the backdrop of Namdaecheon, Muju's representative river.
Furthermore, based on Muju's clean natural environment, the region's unique historical culture, and the trends of tourists visiting Muju, the focus will be on developing sustainable and differentiated tourism resources centered on the local community.
Meanwhile, the Namdaecheon riverside landscape project gained momentum after being finally approved as a new project under the Eastern Region Special Account in 2021.
