Shinhan Life Establishes 'Bitnaneun Sup No.1' in Hongcheon, Gangwon-do
[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] Shinhan Life announced on the 31st that it has created 'Binnaneun Forest No. 1' covering an area of 1.6 hectares (ha) in the Bangnae-ri area of Hongcheon-gun, Gangwon-do.
The creation of 'Binnaneun Forest No. 1' is one of the detailed programs of the 'Binnaneun Forest Campaign,' planned as part of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management. It is an activity to restore forests damaged by logging to absorb carbon dioxide, which has the greatest impact on climate change.
About 20 people, including Shinhan Life employees, Wonju branch planners, and representatives from Triple Planet, participated in this forest creation, planting a total of approximately 5,000 saplings such as pine, larch, and ash trees.
Since November last year, Shinhan Life has been conducting the 'Binnaneun Forest Campaign' with the content of 'growing trees, nurturing forests, and protecting forests' to reduce carbon emissions.
In addition to creating 'Binnaneun Forest No. 1,' employees have grown a total of 5,000 partner trees and donated them to local children's centers, and donated drones and related equipment worth 100 million won for forest protection to the Korean Forest Science Society.
