According to the education sector on the 31st, the body of a tree frog was discovered in radish kimchi served during lunch at A Girls' High School located in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, the previous day.
The school explained in a home correspondence letter, "The radish kimchi containing the foreign substance was a finished food product made by the supplier company by washing and processing the ingredients. It was delivered to our school cafeteria and served as is, during which this incident occurred."
The school stated, "We summoned the representative of the supplier company to ascertain the circumstances of the incident, and the representative admitted the fault of their company," adding, "After receiving a report from the company, we will take strict measures if necessary."
The school held a countermeasure meeting with one middle school and two high schools under the same foundation and discarded all food ingredients supplied by the company to prevent recurrence. Furthermore, the contract with the supplier company was terminated and replaced with another company.
The school reported the discovery of the foreign substance to the Gangseo-gu Hygiene Management Division and the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education. The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education also decided to investigate whether there were any problems in the supply and meal process.
