View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gwiyeol] The Gyeongbuk Office of Education is supporting Hangul responsible education in a field-customized manner by establishing a Hangul responsible education plan and operating a field support group (May to December) to prevent accumulated learning loss and academic achievement gaps, and to improve literacy.
'Hangul Responsible Education' aims to enhance the Hangul literacy skills of students who have not yet acquired Hangul through customized educational support. It supports the field by selecting operational tasks such as ▲establishing a Hangul responsible education support system ▲easy and fun Hangul education ▲substantial Hangul education support.
To systematically support field-customized Hangul education, a 'field support group' composed of about 10 field experts including administrators, lead teachers, basic academic achievement teachers, and representatives of Hangul responsible education research clubs operates to explore various support measures for substantial Hangul responsible education, such as developing and distributing teaching and learning materials and promotional materials, and operating lesson study communities.
For easy and fun Hangul education, Hangul education linked with play is conducted, and a focused Hangul education curriculum totaling 68 hours for grades 1 and 2, including 51 hours in the first semester of grade 1, is operated to complete Hangul acquisition in lower grades.
To secure students' adaptation to school life and the professionalism of guidance, competent homeroom teachers are assigned to grades 1 and 2 in elementary school, and a 'growth responsibility grade system' is operated by implementing a reappointment system. The 'Hangul Tto-bak Tto-bak Program' diagnoses Hangul acquisition levels twice a year (July and November) and provides intensive customized correction guidance programs.
For substantial Hangul education, student guidance consulting and case-sharing training to enhance understanding of Hangul responsible education and Hangul teaching capabilities are planned for the second semester by appointing representatives of research clubs as training instructors.
