[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyemin] Chinese President Xi Jinping met with John Lee, the elected Chief Executive of Hong Kong, in Beijing on the 30th and praised the success of the "One Country, Two Systems" policy.
According to China's state-run news agency Xinhua, President Xi congratulated Lee, saying, "Despite many challenges over the past 25 years, Hong Kong's One Country, Two Systems has achieved universally recognized success," and added, "The central government's determination to comprehensively and accurately implement this principle has never wavered and will not change in the future."
President Xi continued, "I believe the new Hong Kong administration will create a new environment and open a new chapter for Hong Kong's development," adding, "Through the joint efforts of the central government, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and all sectors of society, Hong Kong has regained stability from chaos."
