Pukyong National University was finally selected as the 'Raw Mineral Development Smart Mining Specialized University Project Group' and will receive over 600 million KRW in project funding for 2 years and 8 months.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy supports the training of eco-friendly resource development technical personnel based on intelligent information technology (AICBM) that will lead the securing of core raw material resources for future industries in the global resource market through the Overseas Resource Development Association.
The 'Raw Mineral Development Smart Mining Specialized University Project Group' at Pukyong National University will establish a smart mining education system converging intelligent information technology specialized in the raw mineral development field through this project selection.
It will also work on training resource development technical personnel who can flexibly respond to rapidly changing business cycles.
To this end, it plans to operate a smart mining specialized major curriculum and extracurricular programs and establish a system for sharing and spreading specialized education.
Professor Choi Yo-sun, the project director, said, "Although the demand for future raw minerals is rapidly increasing due to energy transition and new industry promotion, the instability of the global supply chain is intensifying due to resource nationalism, strengthened regulations, and geopolitical risks," adding, "We will strive to create a new paradigm of resource specialized universities leading the 4th Industrial Revolution in the raw mineral development field through this project."
