Arrest Warrant Issued for Man in His 30s Attempting to Rob Wallet and Assault Elderly Man in His 70s at Subway Station
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] The police have requested an arrest warrant for a man accused of assaulting a woman in her 70s at a subway station and attempting to steal her wallet.
On the 30th, the Gwanak Police Station in Seoul announced that they had applied for an arrest warrant for a man in his 30s, identified as Mr. A, who was arrested on suspicion of robbery.
According to the police, Mr. A is suspected of approaching a woman in her 70s who was recharging her transportation card at Seoul National University Station on Line 2 of the Seoul subway around 5 a.m. the previous day, kicking her bag, strangling her, and attempting to steal her wallet.
A subway station staff member who heard the victim's screams reported the incident to the police, and Mr. A was caught on the spot by the responding officers.
During the police investigation, Mr. A reportedly claimed that he was intoxicated.

A police official stated, "We are investigating the specific circumstances of the incident and have applied for an arrest warrant."
