View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] POSCO 1% Sharing Foundation announced on the 30th that it received the Prime Minister's Commendation for its contributions to supporting multicultural families. This is the first time the foundation has received the Prime Minister's Commendation since its establishment.
The foundation stated on the 30th that it received the commendation at the Family Month commemorative event recently held at the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry building in Jung-gu, Seoul.
The foundation has been engaged in social contribution activities such as ▲career education and academic support for multicultural and North Korean defector youth ▲operation of cultural and arts education programs for local children ▲the 'Do Dream' project supporting youth preparing for independence ▲the emergency support program for vulnerable local families called 'Change My Town.' It has operated the customized career support project for multicultural youth, 'ChinChin Rainbow,' for seven years, supporting 528 multicultural and migrant-background youth nationwide. It was also recognized for contributing to the self-reliance of multicultural families through capacity-building education for marriage migrant women and age-specific education for children of multicultural families.
Cheon Seonghyun, Head of POSCO Corporate Citizenship Office, said, "This award is for POSCO Group and partner company employees who donated to the foundation," adding, "We express deep gratitude to the employees who participated in the donations and will continue to lead the way in creating a better society through various programs."

The foundation is a non-profit organization operated with funds from 1% of salaries voluntarily donated monthly by POSCO Group and partner company employees, along with company contributions through a matching grant system. Since its establishment in 2013, it has supported multicultural families and youth. With the participation of group and partner company employees, the foundation's donations exceeded 10 billion KRW last year. It is expanding its business areas into various fields such as supporting cultural activities for future generations, multicultural groups, people with disabilities, and marginalized communities.
