President Yoon "Another wildfire in Uljin after two months, regrettable... Thorough until the end"

[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] President Yoon Seok-yeol instructed the relevant authorities on the 29th regarding the wildfire that occurred in Uljin, Gyeongbuk, saying, "Please thoroughly manage it until the last remaining embers are completely extinguished."

Kang In-seon, spokesperson for the Presidential Office, stated in a written briefing released that morning, "President Yoon gave the following instructions regarding the wildfire that occurred in Uljin, Gyeongbuk."

President Yoon said, "A large-scale wildfire occurred in Uljin, Gyeongbuk, about two months ago, and now another wildfire has broken out, damaging precious forests and burning many buildings, which is a regrettable incident. I deeply appreciate the efforts of the forestry authorities, firefighters, and suppression teams who are doing their best to extinguish the fire throughout the night."

He continued, "Although the main fire has been extinguished, I ask the Korea Forest Service, the National Fire Agency, Gyeongsangbuk-do, and other wildfire suppression agencies to thoroughly manage the area until the last remaining embers are completely put out. I also urge the Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety to prepare support measures so that the affected residents can quickly return to their daily lives."

In particular, he emphasized, "Please make every effort to promptly carry out emergency restoration in the area where this wildfire occurred before the rainy season to prevent additional damage."

Earlier, a fire broke out at 12:06 PM on the 28th in a mountain area in Haenggok-ri, Geunnam-myeon, Uljin-gun, spreading to surrounding mountains and villages driven by strong winds, and the main fire was extinguished after 23 hours.
