Support for Side Dish and Hairdressing Services for Vulnerable Groups by Volunteer Group
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] The volunteer group Yeppeunson in Seokgwan-dong, Seongbuk-gu, led by Director Kim Sunsil, has officially resumed local volunteer activities that had been stagnant due to COVID-19.
Yeppeunson Volunteer Group steadily prepared to restart volunteer activities immediately after the social distancing measures were lifted, and on the 20th and 27th, they carried out activities through talent donation targeting a total of 14 vulnerable households.
On the morning of the 20th, the members made kimchi and then formed four teams of two volunteers each, heading to households in the community that require care. They provided check-in and companionship services to eight low-income elderly living alone and disabled households, delivering happiness boxes containing kimchi.
On the morning of the 27th, four volunteers formed one team to provide hairdressing services to six low-income elderly living alone and disabled households with mobility difficulties.
Director Kim Sunsil of the volunteer group said, “Since COVID-19, many elderly living alone and disabled households have been isolated in the community. I feel proud to regularly visit these vulnerable households, strengthen care services, prevent lonely deaths, and contribute to the development of local welfare.”
