Shinan County Council Member Lee Won-yong Cleared of Charges for Violation of Anti-Corruption Law
‘Unjust Accusations Cleared Through Fair Investigation by Judicial Authorities’
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-kyung] Independent candidate Lee Yong-won, who is running for re-election as a basic council member of Sinan-gun, Jeollanam-do, has been cleared of false accusations.
On the 26th, candidate Lee received notification from the Mokpo Branch of the Gwangju District Prosecutors' Office that he was found 'not guilty' in relation to violations of the Act on the Prevention of Corruption and the Establishment and Operation of the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission.
Candidate Lee stated, “I have once again confirmed that law and justice are alive through the fair judgment made by the investigative authorities.”
He continued, “Although I was falsely accused of violating the Anti-Corruption Act, I left the Democratic Party to avoid causing harm to it,” and emphasized, “With only a short time left until the local elections, I will focus solely on the residents of the county and do my best until the end.”
