Exploring Measures to Address Blind Spots in Child and Adolescent Support Policies
Ministry of Education and Hanyang University Korea Education Issues Research Institute Hold Forum
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] On the 27th, the Ministry of Education will hold a social policy forum with Hanyang University’s Korea Educational Issues Research Institute on the theme of 'Measures to Eliminate Blind Spots in Child and Adolescent Support Policies.'
The forum was organized to strengthen the safety net for youth through tailored support for different types of child and adolescent crises and to explore ways to eliminate welfare blind spots.
Choi Yonghwan, Director of the Korea Youth Policy Institute, will present on the topic of ‘Tasks for Supporting the Academic and Career Paths of Youth in Crisis during the COVID-19 Era,’ proposing measures such as self-directed career exploration, customized service support using extended virtual worlds (metaverse), and strengthening career mentoring.
Baek Hyejeong, Senior Researcher at the Korea Youth Policy Institute, will discuss ‘Tasks for Eliminating Psychological and Emotional Support Blind Spots for Vulnerable Youth and Policy Support,’ suggesting strengthening the state’s responsibility for psychological and health care and establishing an integrated support system that includes psychological and emotional support.
Lee Jeongrim, Senior Researcher at the Korea Institute of Child Care and Education, will present on ‘Tasks for Supporting Low-Income Preschool Children in Crisis Households,’ proposing solutions such as strengthening early investment in low-income preschool children in crisis households and providing tailored support according to the characteristics of low-income families.
