MFDS Suspends Sales and Recalls Tteokgalbi After Detection of Enterohemorrhagic E. coli
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Young-won] The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety announced on the 25th that it will halt the sales of tteokgalbi products in which enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli was detected and recall the products distributed in the market.
The product in question is "Miso Yechan Goindol Tteokgalbi," manufactured and sold by the meat processing company Green Farm Food Agricultural Corporation. The recalled product is the one labeled with a manufacturing date of April 29, 2022, and a net weight of 350g.
Enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli is a pathogenic E. coli that infects through contaminated food or water and causes hemorrhagic diarrhea in the intestines. It can also be accompanied by hemolytic uremic syndrome, known as "hamburger disease."
