Lee Jun-seok, the leader of the People Power Party, took the stage at Yesan Market on the 25th, the market day, to appeal for support for the People Power Party candidates in the local elections, including Kim Tae-heum, candidate for Governor of Chungnam Province, and Choi Jae-gu, candidate for Yesan County Governor.

[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Lee Gye-hwa] Lee Jun-seok, leader of the People Power Party, commented on Park Ji-hyun, the emergency committee chairperson of the Democratic Party of Korea's '586 retirement theory,' saying, "A vague retirement theory without proposing alternatives implies a world of lawmakers Kim Nam-guk, Kim Yong-min, and Ko Min-jung. If that is the alternative, it should be clearly stated."
On the 25th, after finishing a campaign at Dangjin Fish Market in Dangjin City, Chungnam Province, Lee told reporters, "I don't understand why the Democratic Party is experiencing such confusion just days before the election."
He added, "Since it's another party's matter, I hesitate to speak, but aside from the 586 generation, the visible figures these days are Kim Yong-min, Kim Nam-guk, and Ko Min-jung. I will not mention them further."
On the same day, through his Facebook, Lee stated, "It seems the time is approaching for Jo Park-hae (Democratic Party lawmakers Jo Eung-cheon and Park Yong-jin, and former lawmaker Kim Hae-young) to take the forefront. That will be a real showdown for the People Power Party." Regarding the purpose of the post, he said, "I think the Democratic Party has not yet revealed its best card in this local election process. It is somewhat puzzling that candidate Lee Jae-myung, who cannot even guarantee an advantage in his own electoral district due to a baseless candidacy, is traveling nationwide under the title of general election committee chairman but now hastily intends to focus on Gyeyang."
He pointed out, "Although I say this now, if Democratic politicians like former lawmaker Kim Hae-young, who are known for their very popular image and straightforward speech, had led the election, things might have been different." He continued, "The reason I say this is because I feel regretful that the Democratic Party probably will not immediately create space for those individuals."

Lee emphasized, "It is better to work with excellent opponents for cooperation, but looking at the recent hardline stance of the Democratic Party and their attempt to seize the chairmanship of the Legislation and Judiciary Committee even after becoming the opposition, the path to cooperation seems distant. I hope the voices of such reasonable Democratic Party members grow louder."
