Jeongeup-si 'Downtown Commercial District Win-Win Project' Promotion
[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeongeup City in Jeonbuk announced on the 25th that it will promote the ‘Urban Commercial District Win-Win Project,’ which offers discounts to people who have admission tickets to the Gujeolcho, Autumn Foliage, and Lavender Festivals when using downtown stores.
Accordingly, external tourists presenting festival admission tickets during the festival period can use local stores such as restaurants, clothing shops, and beauty salons at a 5-10% discounted price.
The project involves participation from groups such as the ‘Saemgoeul Market Merchants Association,’ ‘Central Shopping District Development Council,’ ‘Saeamgil Merchants Prosperity Association,’ and ‘Uam-ro Prosperity Association.’
The participating organizations have united with the intention of attracting external tourists visiting Jeongeup to the downtown commercial district by providing discount benefits, thereby promoting tourism consumption and revitalizing the old downtown commercial district.
Even at the risk of losses, they plan to voluntarily participate to lead regional win-win development so that more tourists can feel and enjoy Jeongeup’s ‘taste,’ ‘style,’ and ‘fragrance.’
The city plans to post information about businesses participating in the Urban Commercial District Win-Win Project on the Jeongeup City website, produce promotional materials to be placed at event venues, and actively promote the use of related businesses by festival attendees.
To further expand discount benefits for admission ticket holders, the city will continue to recruit accommodations and leisure cultural facilities in the city.
Lee Yong-gwan, Director of Growth Strategy, said, “As a result of the economic effect analysis of the Fragrance Festival, it was found that the inflow of external visitors to the downtown commercial district was insufficient, which led to the promotion of this project. We will continue to develop various policies suitable for tourism consumption patterns to revitalize the old downtown commercial district.”
For more details, please check the Jeongeup City website or the promotional materials placed at the festival venues.
