MFDS Conducts Intensive Hygiene Inspection of Jokbal and Bossam Delivery Restaurants
From the 30th of this month to the 3rd of next month... Chinese Cuisine Inspections in Q1
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Young-won] The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety announced that it will conduct a focused inspection on the hygiene management status of delivery restaurants specializing in Jokbal (pig's trotters) and Bossam (boiled pork wraps) for five days from the 30th of this month to the 3rd of next month, in cooperation with 17 local governments.
The inspection targets approximately 3,200 delivery restaurants handling Jokbal and Bossam that have had no inspection history or have administrative sanctions within the past two years.
The Ministry will check compliance with hygienic handling standards, whether expired products are stored or used, adherence to storage standards for raw materials (temperature of refrigeration and freezing facilities), and whether food is reused.
Personal hygiene compliance, such as wearing hygiene caps to prevent foreign substances from entering delivery food, and compliance with pest control facilities inside the kitchen are key inspection items.
Additionally, the Ministry plans to collect cooked food samples to test for food poisoning bacteria such as Salmonella, enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli, and Listeria monocytogenes.
Previously, the Ministry has conducted focused inspections on delivery restaurants, whose consumption greatly increased due to COVID-19, since last year. In the first quarter of this year, inspections targeted Chinese cuisine delivery restaurants, and this is the first inspection of Jokbal and Bossam restaurants in one year since the first quarter of last year.
