"Classic Revolution" is Lotte Concert Hall's representative summer classical festival, which began in 2020. The program is characterized by focusing on the music of specific composers. In the first year, Beethoven was highlighted, and last year, Brahms and Piazzolla were featured.
This year's program will focus on Mendelssohn and Korngold. Both composers were known as prodigies from an early age, had deep knowledge of literature, and shared a commonality in presenting a musical world that respects the tradition of German classical music.
The festival is diversely organized with a basic program centered on symphonies and concertos, and through Chamber Music Days, it includes chamber works that are usually difficult to encounter.
The festival will be led again this year by artistic director Christoph Poppen, as in the previous year. Domestic artists active worldwide such as violinists Clara Jumi Kang and Lee Ji-yoon, violist Park Kyung-min, pianist Kim Sun-wook, and rapidly rising artists like pianists Lim Yunchan and Lee Hyuk will gather to illuminate the stage.
Detailed programs of the festival can be found on the Lotte Concert Hall website. Ticket prices range from 30,000 to 90,000 KRW for orchestra performances and 30,000 to 70,000 KRW for chamber music. Tickets will open for Lotte Concert Hall Vineyard members from 2 PM on the 31st, and for general members from 2 PM on the 2nd of next month.
