Mr. A, a bank clerk working at the IBK Hanam Industrial Complex Branch, contributed to the arrest of a voice phishing collector.
On the 4th at around 2:30 PM, when victim B (22) said he was withdrawing 7 million won to purchase a used car for transportation business despite his young age, Mr. A suspected voice phishing. He immediately reported it to 112, which helped prevent the crime.
Later, he installed the Citizen Conan app on B’s mobile phone and confirmed that a malicious app had been installed.
When B said he had already handed over 8.7 million won in the morning and planned to give an additional 7 million won in front of his home, Mr. A reported it to 112.

A Gwangsan Police Station official said, “In a situation that could have easily been overlooked, Mr. A’s usual interest in preventing voice phishing crimes helped prevent greater damage,” and added, “We will continue to strengthen the cooperation system between the police and financial institutions and focus more on crime prevention activities.”
